Awards

Nominate your colleague or partner for the Midwest Energy Leadership Awards to be presented at the Great Lakes Symposium. The awards program recognizes individuals whose efforts to promote a smarter grid are helping to foster economic opportunity; create a more efficient, reliable and secure grid; and improve stewardship of natural resources and our environment.

MIDWEST ENERGY LEADERSHIP AWARDS

Research, Development and Innovation

Awarded to a researcher who demonstrates vision in developing new and innovative technical or analytical solutions or tools for the electric grid.

Eligible: Scientific, engineering, economic or business researchers working in education or other nonprofit environments, such as federal laboratories

Entrepreneurship

Awarded to a Midwest-focused entrepreneur or small-business owner whose company is implementing new technologies in the smart grid sector or pursuing new business models or market segments.

Eligible: Individual or firm demonstrating potential to improve the performance, management or consumer understanding of our electricity networks

Industry Market-Driver

Awarded to an industry-leading firm or individual that is leading the transition to a smarter grid and is committing to fostering the clean tech ecosystem in the Midwest.

Eligible: Corporations, business leaders and civic and policy leaders

HOW TO NOMINATE

Submit your Midwest Energy Leadership Award nomination and any relevant documentation to Andrew Barbeau (abarbeau@iit.edu), Managing Director of the Robert W. Galvin Center for Electricity Innovation at Illinois Institute of Technology, by August 1, 2012. To nominate yourself or another, please submit a profile that includes the following elements (all are required):

  • Name of individual/entity being nominated
  • Organization/Company of nominee
  • Category (please indicate one):
    • Research, Development and Innovation
    • Entrepreneurship
    • Industry Market-Driver
  • Nominator contact information
  • A brief description (500 words or less) of the merits of this nomination, including presence in or commitment to the Midwest

A committee will review the nominations for merit and request additional information from the nominator or nominee as necessary to determine final awardees. The Midwest Energy Leadership Awards will be presented in a ceremony at the Great Lakes Symposium on Sept. 24-26, 2012. These awards will honor individuals across the clean tech spectrum, representing Research, Development and InnovationEntrepreneurship; and Industry Market-Driver.  A presence in or commitment to the Midwest is required
